
‘Hysterically Shopping! to some sort of end…’ to Premiere at Dublin Theatre Festival

Aran O’Grady’s new chamber opera, “Hysterically Shopping! to some sort of end…” is set to makes its premiere at the Dublin Theatre Festival.
The opera is a love story that follows Carrie through her dream job at a supermarket. It explores themes of consumerism and contemporary romance. Andrew Gavin, Laoise Murray, Kathleen Nic Dhiarmada, Alexandra Vostokova, and Ned Dennehy make up the cast. Grace Morgan directs and Naoise Dack conducts.
The libretto is by William Dunleavy, Morgan, and Laoise Murray. The creative team is made up of set designer Zia Bergin-Holly, lighting designer Sophie Cassidy, and costume designer Freya Gillespie, with Jessie Thompson the movement director, and sound designer Iain Faulkner. Michael Stone is the creative producer.
The premiere of “Hysterically Shopping!to some sort of end…” is scheduled for Sept. 24 – 27 at the Samuel Beckett Theatre.
