
Houston Grand Opera to Feature ‘Music-Stories-OPERA!’
By David SalazarHouston Grand Opera will present “Music-Stories-OPERA!” this September.
The hour-long program will introduce students to opera through live music, storytelling, and audience participation, offering selections from classic operas, a language guessing segment on famous arias, and a collaborative mini opera created in real time with the performers.
Soprano Siwei Zhang, mezzo soprano Danielle Romano, baritone Fernando Grimaldo, and music director and pianist Catherine Schaefer will perform, with direction by Sloane Teagle. Performances take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, Wednesday, September 23, and Thursday, September 24, at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
Houston Grand Opera’s new season is set to open on Oct. 23, 2026 with a production of “Susannah,” starring Angel Blue.
