Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden has canceled all the planned performances until Sept. 5, 2020. The latest Decree by the authorities of the City of Wiesbaden explicitly prohibits all events with more than 50 participants, until at least Sept. 21, 2020.

The opera house stated that it has received a special permission by the authorities so it can proceed with the planned performances of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” from Sept. 5 – 19, and Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” from Sept. 6 – 20, 2020.

The opera house will deploy strict COVID-19 rules, which will include social distancing, and personalized tickets. Mouth and nose coverings will be mandatory at all times, except when seated for the performance.

Up to 200 spectators will be allowed at the Grosses Haus.
