Handel Hendrix House Announces April – June 2024 Showcases

By David Salazar

Handel Hendrix House has announced a series of performances for this Spring. Here is a rundown of the classical vocal performances on offer.

Every Thursday in April, the house’s Assistant Curator Olwen Foulkes will present “Messiah” talk. The sessions kick off at 2 p.m. and will have a duration of 20 minutes.

“Händel composed ‘Messiah’ in this house over just 24 days in the summer of 1741,” Foulkes noted in an official press release. “The oratorio was premiered in Dublin in 1742, and the performance was so anticipated that the audience were asked to come without their hooped skirts or swords to make space for more people!”

Event Dates: Every Thursday in April at 2 p.m.

Soprano Angela Hicks and lutist/guitarist Kristiina Watt perform “If Love’s a Sweet Passion,” a program of works by Purcell, Barbara Strozzi, and Händel, among others.

Performance Date: June 3, 2024
