Handel and Haydn Society To Honor David Gergen At Annual Society Ball Gala

By Nicole Kuchta

The Handel and Haydn Society will honor David Gergen for his significant contributions to the organization at the upcoming Society Ball Gala.

Gergen is the Founding Director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, and serves as a senior political analyst at CNN.

As an appreciator of the fine arts, he and his wife Anne Gergen have been involved with H+H as subscribers and leadership donors for nearly twenty years. Additionally, the couple have been longtime season sponsors of principal cellist Guy Fishman, co-chaired H+H’s 2015 Bicentennial Gala, and provided a generous gift to the “Instrumental Voices” capital campaign.

The Gala will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston. Guests will enjoy an evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing, and musical performances by members of the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra and Chorus and youth singers from the H+H Vocal Arts Program.

In the press release, Gergen expressed how “deeply touched” he feels to be honored by H+H, an organization that he believes “delivers unsurpassed musical excellence to its many followers throughout the greater Boston community.” He and his wife are “proud to have played a role in the success of H+H . . . [and] look forward to many future years of masterful H+H performances.”

President and CEO David Snead is equally honored to have the opportunity to recognize Gergen: “. . . [H]e and Anne have been supporters and champions of the Handel and Haydn Society for decades, helping us achieve many of our goals. I’m looking forward to continuing to work together as we undertake future seasons of growth.”

Proceeds from the Society Ball Gala will benefit the Handel and Haydn Society and its education programs.
