Guildhall School Announces ‘Opera Makers’ Showcase as Part of its Making It Festival 2025

Guildhall School has announced its Making It Festival 2025.

While the festival features a wide range of differing explorations of what it means to be an artist, one of the major events is the “Opera Makers,” which features new works written by composers and librettists from the school’s “MA in Opera Making and Writing.

The works spotlighted this year include Sorena Sabah and Jess McNulty’s “Alexander and the Tree;” Sam Meredith and Sophia Trewick’s “Gef!;” and Mary Offer and Adi Denner’s “Strings of Rebellion.” The program is set for June 27 through July 2, 2025. There will be a total of four performances with the June 30 showcase including a post-show discussion.

Martin Lloyd-Evans will direct the production while Dominic Wheeler will conduct. The cast for “Alexander and the Tree” includes Oliver Williams, Hannah McKay, Harry Jacques, Julia Solomon, and Sonny Fielding. For “Gef!,” cast members include Gabriella Noble, Redmond Sanders, Lowri Probert, Harry Jacques, and Manon Ogwen Parry. Finally, the cast for “Strings of Rebellion” includes Avery Lafrentz, Seohyun Go, Tobias Campos Santiñaque, and Sonny Fielding.
