The Guggenheim Museum has announced its Works & Process series for the fall season, which will include two new operas.

The series will include John Adams’s opera “Girls of the Golden West,” which is slated to have its world premiere this fall in San Francisco. New Yorkers will have a chance to preview the work on Sept. 21 and 22, 2017, with musical highlights and a talk with composer Adams, Peter Sellars and the opera company’s director, Matthew Shilvock.

Thomas Adès’s opera “The Exterminating Angel,” based on the Luis Buñuel film and which will have its New York premiere at the Metropolitan Opera, will also be previewed in the series.

Nico Muhly will also hold a discussion on his music for countertenor, the male vocal part that calls for singing in the range of a female alto or mezzo-soprano.  He will showcase some of his pieces as well as a premiere which will be commissioned for the Works & Process series.
