Gregory Kunde, Olga Peretyatko & Zuzana Marková Lead Teatro Comunale di Bologna’s 2022 Season

The Teatro Comunale di Bologna has announced its 2022 season featuring several new productions and star singers.

Here is a look at this season’s lineup.

Puccini’s “Tosca” inaugurates the season with Hugo De Ana directing. Daniel Oren conducts the production which is set to star María José Siri, Roberto Aronica, Mikheil Sheshaberidze, Svetlana Kasyan, Erwin Schrott, Dalibor Jenis, and Claudio Sgura.

Performance Dates: Jan. 29-Feb. 6, 2022

Rossini’s “Il signor Bruschino” will be directed by the duo Barbe & Doucet with Michele Spotti conducting. The opera will star Simone Alberghini, Hasmik Torosyan e Pierluigi D’Aloia.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18-27, 2022

Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” will make its Bologna premiere in Paul Curran’s production. Juraj Valčuha conducts the work which will star Meagan Miller, Daniel Kirch, Olga Pudova, and Markus Werba.

Performance Dates: March 20-27, 2022

Oksana Lyniv conducts a double bill that includes Tchaikovsky’s “Iolanta” and Henrik Hertz’s “König Renés Datter.” Liudmyla Ostash, Dmytro Popov, and Vitaliy Bilyy star.

Performance Dates: April 7 & 9, 2022

Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” will get a new production by Silvia Paoli. Andriy Yurkevich will conduct the showcase, which will star Olga Peretyatko in the title role, Marta Torbidoni, Stefan Pop, Francesco Castoro, Mirco Palazzi, and Lamia Beuque.

Performance Dates: May 7-13, 2022

Mario Nanni will direct a production of Verdi’s “Luisa Miller” with Daniel Oren conducting. Gregory Kunde, Antonio Poli, Myrtò Papatanasiu, Marta Torbidoni, Franco Vassallo, Leon Kim, Martina Belli, and Sofia Koberidze star.

Performance Dates: June 3-9, 2022

Verdi’s “Otello” will be directed by Gabriele Lavia and conducted by Asher Fisch. Gregory Kunde stars in the title role alongside Mariangela Sicilia, Roberto Aronica, Franco Vassallo, Angelo Veccia, and Federica Vitali.

Performance Dates: June 24-30, 2022

Gregory Kunde, Luciano Ganci, Roberto Frontali, Stefano Meo, Erika Grimaldi, and Maria Pia Piscitelli star in Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier.” Oksana Lyniv conducts the production by Pierfrancesco Maestrini.

Performance Dates: Oct. 14-23, 2022

Wagner’s “Lohengrin” returns to the stage in a production by Luigi De Angelis. Asher Fisch conducts the opera which stars Ian Koziara, Daniel Frank, Elisabet Strid, Martina Welschenbach, Lioba Braun, Anna Maria Chiuri, and Lucio Gallo.

Performance Dates: Nov. 13-20, 2022

Verdi’s “La Traviata” will get a new production by Alessandro Talevi. Riccardo Frizza conducts the production with Zuzana Marková, Julia Muzychenko, Rame Lahaj, Matteo Falcier, Roberto Frontali, and Dario Solari.

Performance Dates: Dec. 10-21, 2022 

The company also announced the 2023 season will open with Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” directed by Damiano Michieletto. The 2022 season will also continue its partnership with Rai Radio3.
