Gregory Kunde has canceled his participation in the Alberto Zedda gala.

The tenor announced via Twitter stating, “Friends: It is with great sadness that I must cancel my participation in the upcoming homage to Mo. Zedda this Saturday in Antwerp. Nothing serious, just a nasty cold. Apologies to all of my colleagues and to the Vlaamse Opera public. A huge ‘In Bocca Al Lupo’ to all everyone!”

The gala will commemorate Alberto Zedda who passed away on March 6, 2017. He would have celebrated his 90th birthday on Jan. 2. The gala will also commemorate Rossini and will celebrate the maestro who had close ties to Opera Vlaanderen in the course of the previous seasons. Conductor Donato Renzetti will lead a distinguished group of singers including Nicola Alaimo, Salome Jicia, Enea Scala, Carlo Lepore, Maxim Mironov, Cecilia Molinari, Michele Pertusi, Teresa Iervolino, and Carmen Romeu.

Kunde returns to the stage for concert performances of Donizetti’s “Poliuto” at the Liceu before taking on the title role of “Peter Grimes” at the Palau de les Arts. He also sings “Aida” at the Teatro Real and “La Forza del Destino” at the Semperoper.
