Grand Théâtre de Genève to Cancel Several June Performances

The Grand Théâtre de Genève has announced the cancelation and postponement of several upcoming productions.

Per its official website, the company unveiled that the decision was made in accordance with protocols instituted to prevent the continued spread of COVID-19.

First up is a production of Verdi’s “La Traviata” that was set to take place between June 20 – July 3, 2021. The opera was to star Ekaterina Bakanova and Francesca Dotto alternating the role of Violetta alongside Enea Scala and Julien Behr as Alfredo. Dalibor Jenis and Michael Nagy were also set to appear as Giorgio Germont.

The company also canceled the June 6, 2021 recital featuring Ludovic Tézier.

Finally, the theater has postponed its “Under the Stars” concert with a future date to be determined.

Several other Swiss artistic organizations have already started the reopening process including the Theater Basel as well as the Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn.
