The Gran Teatre del Liceu is set to celebrate Victoria de Los Angeles’ centenary.

The company will hold a gala on Nov. 7, 2023 which will revisit the core repertoire of the undisputed soprano.

The gala, which is curated by Marc Busquets, artistic director of LIFE Victoria Barcelona, will feature soloists Maria Agresta, Louise Alder, Dame Sarah Connolly, Joyce DiDonato, Juliana Grigoryan, Sabina Puértolas, Helena Ressureiçao, Fatma Said, Anne Schwanewilms, Iréne Theorin, Marina Viotti, and Julius Drake.

Vincent Huguet will direct the gala with conductor Lucas Macías leading the evening.

The gala will be broadcast for free on Catalunya Música. However, it will not be available for streaming worldwide, due to copyright or other clearance issues.

De Los Angeles made her debut at the Liceu in 1945 as the Countess in “Le nozze di Figaro” and went on to be one of the most influential sopranos of her generation performing Zarzuela, and the works of Verdi, Bizet, Leoncavallo, Puccini, Rossini, Gounod, and Massenet, among others.
