The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has announced that it will be able to expand the capacity of audience members starting May 24.

The opera house noted that it will raise the capacity from 50% to 70% maintaining all of its safety precautions including social distancing. The Liceu announced that there will be distance between groups or individuals not in the same party.

The new regulations will be implemented for productions of “Swan Lake,” “La bohème,” “Lucia di Lammermoor,” and “My Fair Lady.”

The news comes as Spain starts to ease restrictions and announced that the country will be ready for tourism in June.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu recently announced its 2021-22 season in which it will celebrate its 175th anniversary with a gala starring Anna Netrebko.
