Gran Teatre del Liceu Ordered to Reduce Seating Capacity

The Catalan regional government has introduced a series of restrictive measures aimed at curbing the latest spread of COVID-19.
The Catalan authorities were forced to ask for a Catalan High Court approval for the new measures.
A nighttime curfew between 12 a. m. and 6 a. m. has been introduced in all municipalities with a population of more than 10,000 residents where the 14-day incidence is above 250. Additionally, social gatherings will be limited to 10 people.
The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced that it has received an order to reduce its seating capacity to 70 percent of the total seating capacity. The opera house is set to perform Tchaikovsky’s “The Queen of Spades” in January and February 2022, starring Yusif Eyvazov, Martin Muehle, Sondra Radvanovsky, Lianna Haroutounian, Łukasz Goliński, Gevorg Hakobyan, Rodion Pogossov, Andrey Zhilikhovsky, David Alegret, Elena Zaremba, Dolora Zajick, Lena Belkina, Cristina Faus, Mireia Pintó, Gemma Coma-Alabert, Marc Sala, Mercedes Gancedo, and Serena Sáenz.
