The Gran Teatre del Lieu has announced a cast change for its production of “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

The company said that “Sara Blanch will perform the role of Oscar in all the performances of ‘Un Ballo in Maschera,’ also in the previously announced ones with Jodie Devos, who ultimately does not participate in the production for health reasons.”

Blanch made her Gran Teatre del Liceu debut during the 2016-17 season performing in a production of “Thais.” She has since performed in productions of “L’Italiana in Algeri,” “L’enigma di Lea,” “Don Giovanni,” “Ariadne auf Naxos,” “Die Zauberflöte,” and “Don Pasquale.”

Blanch will sing alongside two casts that include Freddie De Tommaso, Arturo Chacón-Cruz, Artur Ruciński, Ernesto Petti, Anna Pirozzi, Saioa Hernández, Daniela Barcellona, and Okka von der Damerau. The opera opens on Feb. 9 and runs through Feb. 20, 2024.
