Grammy Awards Postponed Due to COVID-19

The Grammy Awards have been postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus-related concerns.

According to Variety, an Academy spokesperson confirmed the news. No new date has been confirmed as of yet.

The awards ceremony was originally set to take place on Jan. 31 before a full audience at its traditional venue, the Crypto.com Arena in downt0own Los Angeles. However, the recent surge in Covid-19 caused the postponement.

According to Variety, the Academy and CBS are hoping for a full show with a live audience later this year.

This year the Grammy’s saw Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Metropolitan Opera lead the Classical Music branch nominees. Other nominees included Will Liverman, Joyce DiDonato, Jamie Barton, Jake Heggie, Gustavo Dudamel, Grant Gershon, Leah Crocetto, Mihoko Fujimura, Ryan McKinny, Erin Morley, Tamara Mumford, Simon O’Neill, Morris Robinson, and Tamara Wilson, among others.
