Glyndebourne Festival Announces Cast Change for ‘Carmen’
By Francisco SalazarThe Glyndebourne Festival has announced a cast change for its production of “Carmen” on May 23, 2024.
The company noted that John Findon will sing the role of Don Jose replacing Dmytro Popov.
Findon is a tenor who has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, the English National Opera, the Royal Opera House, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Chamber Orchestra, and Blackheath Halls. Findon is currently a 2022-23 Harewood Artist at the English National Opera and was a semi-finalist at Operalia 2023.
He is set to join a cast that includes Rihab Chaieb, Dmitry Cheblykov, and Sofia Fomina. Robin Ticciati conducts the new production by Diane Paulus.
Popov returns to the production on May 26.
