Garsington Opera has announced that Nicola Creed will be stepping down from her position as Executive Director after 25 years with the company.

Creed took over the position in 2013 following 14 years as Associate Director. Under her tenure, she worked alongside Artistic Director Douglas Boyd to expand the festival’s artistic boundaries, resulting in an increase of membership by 50 percent over the last 10 years. She was also one of the major forces behind the organization’s new home in Wormsley.

Most recently, Creed was appointed to the position of Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire.

“Nicola has been instrumental in shaping Garsington’s vision and ethos, fostering a culture of excellence whilst leading the company with wisdom, integrity and charm. She leaves Garsington Opera in robust shape and will remain in post until a successor is appointed,” said an official press release.

Creed started her career as a choral scholar and cellist at Cambridge. Following her graduation, she joined Harold Holt and then went on to produce music festivals in Eeter, York, Salisbury, and Chichester. She also spent 10 years at the National Trust.
