Gamut Inc. to Take ‘RUR’ Opera to Köln
By David SalazarGamut Inc. is set to bring its unique opera “RUR” to Köln.
The work is set to open at Barnes Crossing Köln on Jan. 6 and 7, 2023, following performances at the Comedia in Köln on Feb. 5 and 6, 2022; the work also played at the Theater im Delphi in Berlin on Jan. 20, 21, and 22 of 2022.
The opera, which features a libretto by Frank Witzel based on Karel Capek’s famed play, stars soprano Gina May Walter and countertenor Georg A. Bochow.
Ruben Reniers is the dancer and choreographer in the show while Patric Schott will also perform a role.
NMZ – Neue Musikzeitung called the January 2022 performances “a memorable evening,” while Der Freitag said that the work was “Wonderfully dissonant.”
