The program, is led by Roseline Blain, conducting Gaïa and Phœbus, and Katia Makdissi-Warren, leading Oktoecho Together, and explores musical expressions of choral and vocal traditions shaped by geography, climate, and cultural exchange across Northern Europe and the Arctic regions of North America.
The program features music by Erik Bergman, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Jean Sibelius, Juhani Mäntyyärvi, Richard Kidd, and Katia Makdissi-Warren.
Inuit throat singers Lydia Etok and Nina Segalowitz will also participate in the show. A pre-concert mediation precedes the performance, focusing on the relationship between Inuit throat singing and Western choral traditions. Etok and Segalowitz introduce the practice of throat singing, followed by a discussion with Blain and Makdissi-Warren addressing its incorporation into choral repertoire and collaborative performance practices.
