Conductor Frédéric Chaslin has been cleared of sexual harassment accusations.

Chaslin took to social media to announce the news and said, “Please find below the statement from my lawyers, Olivier d’Antin and Emmanuel Daoud, regarding the decision to close the case following the complaint filed against me. I am also attaching, for reference, the letter from my American lawyer concerning the Epstein matter.”

The letters which were published by Slippedisc in English said, “The criminal proceedings initiated following the complaint filed by Ms. Amélia Feuer regarding alleged sexual harassment by Mr. Frédéric Chaslin have been closed by the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office without further action. The criminal investigation concluded that no offense had been established. Mr. Frédéric Chaslin—who bore the full brunt of the media coverage surrounding the allegations against him, all of which he has consistently denied—acknowledges this decision and now wishes to fully resume his professional and artistic activities.”

Regarding Epstein, Chaslin’s lawyers said that the conductor has “never been investigated and has never been charged with any offense. His brief and incidental interactions with Mr. Epstein were limited to a small number of social encounters, all of which took place in the presence of third parties, and were entirely devoid of any improper conduct.”

Earlier in March, soprano Amelia Feuer filed an official complaint with the French government against Frédéric Chaslin. In the complaint the soprano alleged that the conductor sexually harassed her over text messages in 2016 and offered her work and notoriety in exchange for sexual favors. Before that it was revealed that Chaslin’s name had been in the Epstein files. Those files revealed the conductor to have a relationship with the convicted sex offender that dated back to 2012 and noted that Chaslin and Epstein had conversations regarding the #MeToo movement. The files also revealed that Epsteinwas also connected to current Santa Fe Opera Board of Directors member Peter Frank who sent an email in 2014 to both Chaslin and Epstein stating, “All is terrific in Santa Fe a very successful musical summer for us here We may be in Paris for a stay next September/Oct What is your schedule then.”
