Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza Postpones Verdi’s Requiem

By Francisco Salazar

The Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza has postponed its upcoming performance of Verdi’s Requiem.

According to the theater, the performance was postponed due to a health issue by Placido Domingo, who, as a result, will not be able to travel to Italy in November. As a result, the concert will now be held on May 16, 2021.

The news comes after Domingo canceled his participation at the Donizetti Festival in concert performances of “Belisario.” The festival has already announced that Domingo has rescheduled his participation for another edition.

Verdi’s Requiem, which was set to be dedicated to the victims of COVID-19 and streamed via Opera Streaming on Nov. 24,  was set to be performed by Maria Jose Siri, Annalisa Stroppa, Antonio Poli, and Michele Pertusi. More information will be available in the coming months.
