Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano e Trento Names New Principal Director
By Francisco SalazarThe Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano e Trento has announced Alessandro Bonato as the next Principal Director of the Orchestra Haydn.
Bonato will begin his term in October 2025 and will run through June 2028.
Bonato began his relationship with the Fondazione Haydn two years ago in various projects including conducting a New Year’s Concert and recently made his debut at the Teatro Sociale di Trento with “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”
As Principal Conductor he will be present in the Symphonic and operatic season and will work with Artistic Director Giorgio Battistelli to define the program.
In a statement, Battistelli said, “The Haydn Foundation desires to create a link, a connection, spaces for new Italian and European artistic forces. The appointment of Alessandro Bonato as the main director fits perfectly into this path. Alessandro Bonato is part of that group of directors who have emerged with a strong artistic vision, with a character formed and supported by a very solid cultural identity. Bonato is linked to the roots of the great classical repertoire, but he also has the intellectual curiosity to enter into the works of twentieth-century music and the music of our time.”
Bonato has collaborated with the Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, and the Filarmonica Toscanini. He has conducted at the Sferisterio di Macerata, Teatri Grande di Brescia, Ponchielli di Cremona, Sociale di Como, Fraschini di Pavia, and Verdi di Pisa as well as at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Rossini Opera Festival, and Gran Teatro Nacional del Perù.
