The Florida Grand Opera has announced that the 2020-21 main stage season in Miami and Fort Lauderdale “will not move forward.”

The company announced that instead, it will move forward with its Songfest online recital series and its concert series featuring young artists. Concerts are scheduled to be performed through December with more to be announced for the spring portion of the season.

The FGO is the latest company to cancel its mainstage productions and move to online performances following the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Metropolitan Opera, LA Opera, and the New York Philharmonic.

The Florida Grand Opera recently released archived performances for its Online platform FGO Opera on the Go, in which it streamed performances of “Florencia en el Amazonas,” “Nabucco,” “The Counsel,” “Lucia di Lammermoor” and “Le Nozze di Figaro.”
