
Fleur Barron & Kunal Lahiry to Headline LIFE Victoria Recital at Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza
By David SalazarMezzo-soprano Fleur Barron and pianist Kunal Lahiry will headline the next recital in the LIFE Victoria cycle at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid.
The recital, titled “Sueños y combates creativos,” features John Cage’s The Wonderful Widow of Eighteen Springs, Berio’s Folk Songs, and works by Olivier Messiaen, George Crumb, Theodoro Valcárcel, Cathy Berberian, and William Bolcom. It is set for Dec. 12, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. accompanies the museum’s exhibition on Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and American expressionism.
The collaboration marks LIFE Victoria’s first partnership with the Thyssen and forms part of the series’ expansion.
Fleur Barron, this year’s LIFE Victoria artist-in-residence, returns to Spain following her 2022 debut. Her upcoming engagements include debuts at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic, with the New York Philharmonic, and leading roles at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
Kunal Lahiry is a frequent LIFE Victoria collaborator, with recent performances at Wigmore Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Pierre Boulez Saal.
