
Fleur Barron, Joélle Harvey, Issachah Savage to Headline Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s 2026-27 Season
By David SalazarThe Baltimore Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2026-27 season, titled “Illuminated Through Sound,” under Music Director Jonathon Heyward. Performances will take place at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore and The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland.
Here is a rundown of the vocal highlights on offer.
Mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron and BSO Principal Viola Lisa Steltenpohl join Heyward for Ravel’s “Shéhérazade” and Berlioz’s “Harold in Italy,” alongside Strauss’s “Don Juan.”
Performance Dates: Nov. 6–8, 2026
Guest conductor Peter Oundjian leads Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, “Choral,” for the BSO’s New Year’s Celebration, with soprano Joélle Harvey, mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor, tenor Issachah Savage, bass-baritone Dashon Burton as the soloists. The Baltimore Choral Arts Society also perform on the program, which opens with Valerie Coleman’s “Umoja: Anthem of Unity.”
Performance Dates: Jan. 1–3, 2027
Conductor Damon Gupton leads “The Planets — An HD Odyssey,” featuring Holst’s “The Planets” with images from modern space exploration projected in HD above the stage, alongside Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter,” Anna Clyne’s “Pivot,” and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society.
Performance Dates: Feb. 11–13, 2027
Conductor Keitaro Harada leads the BSO and the Cathedral Choral Society in a live-to-film performance of the Oscar-winning film “Amadeus,” with the music of Mozart performed live.
Performance Dates: Mar. 19–21, 2027
Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez leads “The Three Mexican Tenors” in a program spanning operatic arias and beloved pop hits, with a tribute to Luis Miguel, Juan Gabriel, and Vicente Fernández.
Performance Dates: Apr. 9–11, 2027
The season closes with Heyward conducting Verdi’s Requiem.
