Fisher Center at Bard Unveils Fall 2024 Slate

The Fisher Center at Bard has unveiled its fall 2024 season. Here are the vocal highlights on offer.

First up is “China Now Music Festival Composing the Future,” which features Hao Weiya’s “AI’s Variation,” a sci-fi opera for three voices and a chamber orchestra. It explores the story of a troubled artist who lets his identity be enhanced by AI and how it alters his personal life. The program also includes commissioned works for Chinese and Western instruments performed by the Bard East/West Ensemble.

Performance Dates: Oct. 18, 2024

Baritone William Sharp will be among the soloists in “Charles Ives’ America,” a program featuring “The Fourth of July,” “Central Park in the Dark,” the second Symphony, and Orchestra Set No. 2. Leon Botstein conducts The Orchestra Now. Pianist Donald Berman also performs and Peter Burkholder hosts the event.

Performance Dates: Nov. 16 & 17, 2024

Leon Botstein leads the Bard Conservatory Orchestra and soloists from the Bard Vocal Program in Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42, Op. 42, “Wie der Hirsch schreit.” The program also includes symphonies by Schubert  (No. 8) and Shostakovich (No. 10).
