Festival Cap Rocat Dedicates Closing Concert to Pretty Yende’s Mother

The Festival Cap Rocat is dedicating Nadine Sierra and Francesco Demuro’s August 6 concert to Pretty Yende’s mother.

Yende took to social media and said, “I’m terribly saddened to miss the concert tonight Festival CapRrocat with Nadine Sierra. I’m very grateful to Francesco Demuro for performing tonight and sending my sincerest gratitude for the entire management team for dedicating the concert in loving memory of my beloved mom.”

For their part, the festival said, “Italian Francesco Demuro will replace Pretty Yende at the Opera Gala that tonight will close the Cap Rocat Festival 2023. Unfortunately, Pretty Yende is unable to participate in the event due to the recent loss of her mother. The artistic director of the festival, Ilias Tzempetonidis, has publicly thanked the prestigious tenor Demuro for his participation in this gala. He has also announced that tonight’s concert will be dedicated to the memory of Pretty Yende’s mother.”

Yende announced the passing of her mother on July 26 when she revealed that she was canceling her participation in a July 29 concert. OperaWire sends its condolences to Yende and her family in his very difficult moment.
