Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden Announces 2024 Slate

The Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden has announced its slate for 2024.

Handel’s “Il Trionfo del tempo e del Disinganno” opens the festival. Dorothee Oberlinger directs the Ensemble 1700 with soloists soprano Lombardi Mazzulli, countertenor Alois Mühlbacher, and tenor Laurence Kilsby.

Performance Date: September 21, 2024 

The Academy for Early Music Berlin performs works by Handel, Geminiani, Vivaldi, Schmelzer, Biber, Rameau, and others on the themes of war and peace.

Performance Date: September 23, 2024 

Mezzo-soprano Ulrike Malotta, baritone Konstantin Paganetti, the Vocal Quartet of the Rheinische Kantorei, with pianist Hedayet Djeddikar perform in a concert of songs.

Performance Date: September 24, 2024 

The Gesualdo Six perform “Tenebrae Responsories” by Gesualdo and de Victoria, as well as “Lamentations of Jeremiah” by Tallis.

Performance Date: September 26, 2024 

Edzard Burchards directs the Rhenish choir in “Of Darkness – A Choir Fantasy.”

Performance Date: September 27, 2024 

Soprano Anna Nesyba, alto Ingeborg Danz, tenor Richard Resch, baritone Richard Logiewa, and bass Andreas Wolf perform Martin’s “Golgotha” with the Rhenish choir and Harvestehude Chamber Choir. Edzard Burchards conducts.
