Ferruccio Furlanetto to Perform at Mariinsky Theatre

By Francisco Salazar

Ferruccio Furlanetto is set to return to the Mariinsky Theatre for two performances.

The Italian bass will first perform on Nov. 19 at the VIII Russian National Opera Prize Onegin alongside Hibla Gerzmava, Maria Barakova, Inara Kozlovskaya, and Igor Golovatenko. Valery Gergiev will conduct the evening.

Then on Nov. 20, 2023, he will perform “Don Carlo” with Irina Churilova and Valery Gergiev conducting.

Furlanetto becomes the latest Western musician to return to Russia since the war broke out. He follows Ramon Vargas and Vittorio Grigolo, who previously performed during gala evenings.

Furlanetto recently performed at the Berlin State Opera and this season he will perform in Graz and Budapest among other cities.
