The Teatro Comunale di Ferrara will select voices for its upcoming production of “Un Ballo in Maschera” by Giuseppe Verdi through the free training course “Cantante 5.0.”

The opera is scheduled for the 2027-28 season and will be co-produced with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Teatro Galli di Rimini. Selections for the course will take place in Ferrara on Sept. 28, 2026. Once admitted to the program, the theater will identify the most suitable candidates to engage in the production based on their artistic needs and evaluations conducted during the course.

The advanced training course is promoted by COM2, a training body accredited by the Emilia Romagna Region, in collaboration with the theater, which will host the program starting in October 2026. Instructors include Leone Magiera, who trained generations of artists including Luciano Pavarotti and Mirella Freni, and soprano Cecilia Gasdia, superintendent of the Arena di Verona Foundation.
