Fabio Sartori, Salome Jicia & Serena Gamberoni Lead Teatro Carlo Felice’s Fall 2021-22 Season

The Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Italy has announced its fall 2021-22 season featuring three productions and several concerts. Here is a look at the fall season.

The season will open with a double bill of Francesco Filidei’s “Sull’esser angeli” and Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci.” Claudia Catarzi will dance the opening work while Fabio Sartori and Sergio Escobar will headline Leoncavallo’s work alongside Serena Gamberoni, Angela Nisi, Sebastian Catana, Federico Longhi, Michele Patti, Marcello Rosiello, Matteo Falcier, and Nico Franchini.

Performance Dates: Oct. 8-17, 2021

Bellini’s “Bianca e Fernando” will get a new production by Hugo de Ana and will be conducted by Donato Renzetti. Salome Jicia and Francesca Tiburzi star as Bianca while Ruzil Gatin and Giorgio Misseri take on the role of Fernando. The cast also includes Nicola Ulivieri, Simon Lim, Alessio Cacciamani, Francesco Leoni, Giovanni Battista Parodi, Elena Belfiore, and Carlotta Vichi.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19-28, 2021

Franz Lehár’s “La vedova allegra” will be performed in a new Italian version by Luca Micheletti, who will also direct. Asher Fisch conducts the production which is set to star Elisa Balbo, Valentina Mastrangelo, Luca Micheletti, Michele Patti, Bruno Praticò, Francesca Benitez, Luisa Kurtz, Pietro Adaini, and Emanuele D’Aguanno.

Performance Dates: Dec. 30, 2021-Jan. 1, 2022

Concerts 

The opening concert of the season will star Sonia Ganassi alongside Dmitry Matvienko, winner of the Malko Competition 2021. The program will include music by Haydn, Dallapiccola, and Respighi.

Performance Date: Sept. 11, 2021

Federico Maria Sardelli and Vivica Genaux perform a concert of music by Sardelli, Mozart and Vivaldi.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16, 2021

Francesco Aliberti leads the Coro del Teatro Carlo Felice in a concert with music by Guastavino, Ramirez, and Zipoli.

Performance Dates: Oct. 13, 2021

Francesco Aliberti leads the Coro del Teatro Carlo Felice in a concert with music by Bach and Brahms.

Performance Dates: Oct. 27, 2021

Francesco Aliberti leads the Coro del Teatro Carlo Felice in music by Ravel, Indy, Rameau, Faure, Debussy, Mouton, Charpentier, Saint-Saens, and Gounod.

Performance Dates: Dec. 3, 2021

Gino Tanasini and Enrico Grillotti lead the children’s chorus.

Performance Dates: Dec. 6, 2021

Andrea De Carlo leads Alessandro Stradella’s Oratorio San Giovanni Battista.
