Fabio Luisi Named Principal Conductor of NHK Symphony

The NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo has named Fabio Luisi its Principal Conductor.

The conductor will take on the new post starting September 2022 and will remain with the orchestra for  at least the next three years.

Luisi debuted in Japan in 2001 and is currently the Music Director at the Dallas Symphony and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. He is in the process of finishing his tenure with Zurich Opera.

Luisi has worked at the major opera houses in the world and was the principal conductor at the Metropolitan Opera from 2010-2017. He has also served positions as Music Director at the Semperoper Dresden, and Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

This season he is set to conduct in Madrid, Martina Franca, and Valencia.
