Experiments in Opera and Alter Ego Chamber Opera will present a unique double bill featuring “Crystal’s “Channel” and “Soul’s Unscreened” on May 30 and June 2, 2024.

“Crystal’s Channel” is an opera that tells the story of a songwriter who uploads a new song every day to YouTube eventually revealing how her mother took her to an exorcist when she became obsessed with ventriloquism. The work by Jason Cady features Sarah Daniels as vocal soloist and guitarist. Shanon Sindelar directs.

Meanwhile, Roger A. Martinez and Alize Francheska Rozsnyai’s “Soul’s Unscreened” is the first act of an installation opera about a computer scientist who deepfakes herself during the COVID-19 pandemic. It stars Rozsnyai, Tom Sitzler, Kaitlyn Tierney, and Sepehr Pirasteh as the vocal soloists.

The May 30 performance will take place at Brooklyn Art Haus in New York while the June 2 performance will take the stage at Harmonie Hall in Philadelphia.
