Everything You Need to Know About the Metropolitan Opera’s At-Home Gala

The Metropolitan Opera’s At Home Gala is undeniably one of the most hotly anticipated event since the social distancing measures kicked off just a little over one month ago. The event is set to feature close to 40 artists from around the world and recent reports indicate that a great deal of preparation has gone into making this a memorable event.

So in anticipation of the gala, here is everything you need to know before you check it out.

What

It’s an online gala by the Metropolitan Opera featuring major superstars from around the world performing from their homes. The repertory will include but not be limited to music by Verdi, Donizetti, and Mozart.

Who

Met Opera General Manager Peter Gelb and Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will host the gala which will feature this massive list of artists performing from their homes:

The event can be viewed for free on the Met Opera website.

When

The At-Home Gala kicks off at 1 p.m. EDT on Saturday April 25, 2020 and will remain available for repeat viewings until 6:30 p.m. EDT the following day. Per The Guardian, the event is set to last around four hours.

Why

The gala is part of the company’s “The Voice Must Be Heard” fundraising campaign which aims to provide support to the company.
