Euro Cup Final Forces Teatro Regio di Parma to Change ‘Don Pasquale’ Performance Time

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro Regio di Parma has changed the time for the July 11 performance of “Don Pasquale.”

The company announced the opera will now start at 20:00 instead of the original 21.30 in order for audiences to be able to see the final of the UEFA EURO Cup in which Italy will play against England.

The new production by Pier Francesco Maestrini is the first time the opera is being presented in Parma in 28 years. The production features set designs by Guillermo Nova, costumes by Luca Dall’Alpi, lighting by Andrea Borelli, and choreography by Michele Cosentino.

Ferdinando Sulla conducts the production which stars Laura Giordano (Norina), Antonio Mandrillo (Ernesto), Federico Longhi (Don Pasquale), Pablo Galvez (Dottor Malatesta), and Giulio Riccò (Notaio).

The final two performances of “Don Pasquale” will be presented on July 9 and 11, 2021.
