Erwin Schrott’s Recital at Teatro Alla Scala Rescheduled

Uruguayan bass Erwin Schrott cancelled the recital scheduled for January 26, 2020 at the Teatro alla Scala, according to the official statement on the company’s website.

Per the statement, the stated reason for the cancelation was “dental surgery that cannot be postponed.” However, per to the same statement, the recital has been rescheduled for October 4, 2020.

The program for the concert was to include music by Mozart, Verdi, Gounod, Boito, and Tosti.

Erwin Schrott has recently performed the role of Baron Scarpia in Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; the title role in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Theater an der Wien and Royal Opera House Covent Garden; the role of Alidoro in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” at the Teatro alla Scala; and the role of Méphistophélès in “Faust” at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, among others.

Schrott is slated to return to the stage with the role of Alidoro in “La Cenerentola” at the Bayerische Staatsoper on February 29, 2020.
