The Teatro Regio di Parma has announced a cast change for its production of “Tosca.”

The company said that the performances on May 23 and 25 will star Erika Grimaldi, replacing Anastasia Bartoli, who is ill.

Grimaldi has performed the title role at the Puccini Festival and Ópera de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She is well known for her interpretations of Verdi, Puccini, and the verismo repertoire. She is set to perform “Otello” at the Washington National Opera and “Andrea Chenier” at the Zurich Opera this season.

Grimaldi is set to join a cast that includes Brian Jagde and Luca Salsi. Daniel Oren conducts the production.
