Enrique Mazzola Extends Contract with Lyric Opera of Chicago

The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that Enrique Mazzola will extend his contract as Music Director through 2030-31.

The Lyric Opera board signed off on the extension. Mazzola succeeded Andrew Davis with a five-year contract in 2021-22.

Next season, the conductor will lead productions of “Fidelio,” “Rigoletto,” “The Puccini Heroines,” “The Listeners,” and “A Wonderous Concert.”

Mazzola has conducted at top venues such as the Wiener Staatsoper, Theatre de Champs-Elysees, Bolshoi Theatre, the Metropolitan Opera, and Teatro alla Scala, and has led leading ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Philharmonia Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic, Taipei Symphony, and Orchestre National d’Ile de France.
