English Touring Opera’s Director Steps Down

By David Salazar

The English Touring Opera has announced that Director James Conway is stepping down from his position.

Per an official press statement, Conway made the decision in order to pursue freelance opportunities. He has, however, agreed to remain Artistic Director of the Company in a part-time capacity until the end of 2022.

“James Conway has led English Touring Opera with imagination, energy and distinction for almost twenty years. In that time, he has transformed the artistic reputation of the company, while carefully managing our financial resources. He will leave the company in a secure position with an exciting future,” said Mark Beddy, Chair of the Board of English Touring Opera, in an official press statement.

Conway was with the company for 20 years and was a major force in developing its “Opera that Moves” tagline.
