English Touring Opera Announces 2023 National Spring Tour

English Touring Opera has announced the productions that it will present as part of its Spring 2023 national tour.

Launching the tour will be “Giulio Cesare” in a revival directed by James Conway and starring Susanna Hurrell as Cleopatra. Francis Gush, Carolyn Dobbin, and Margo Arsane round out a cast that will be conducted by Sergey Rybin.

Performance Dates: Feb. 25 – May 25, 2023

The company revealed that it will present Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” for the first time in a production by Eloise Lally. Soprano Paula Sides takes on the title role with Thomas Elwin as Gennaro, Katie Coventry as Orsini, and Aidan Edwards as Alfonso. Gerry Cornelius conducts.

Performance Dates: March 3 – May 26, 2023

The company will also showcase Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims” with a cast starring Lucy Hall, Luci Briginshaw, Susanna Hurrell, and Julian Henao Gonzalez. The opera will be directed by Valentina Ceschi and conducted by Jonathan Peter Kenny.

Performance Dates: March 4 – May 27, 2023

The tour will see the company performance in London, Norwich, York, Durham, Canterbury, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Buxton, Leamington Spa, Snape, Poole, Sheffield, and Exeter.
