
English National Opera Announces New Board Trustees
By David SalazarEnglish National Opera has appointed Professor Malcolm Press CBE, Vanda Murray OBE, and Caroline Julian to its board of trustees.
Press and Murray will join the Board in February 2026 while Caroline Julian joins this month.
Press has served as Vice Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University since 2015 and holds advisory and trustee roles across national and international organizations.
Murray brings more than three decades of senior leadership experience across business, public, and charity sectors, including her current roles as Chair of Marshalls plc and Yorkshire Water and former tenure as CEO of Blick plc.
Julian is Brand and Engagement Director at British Cycling and has experience in communications, marketing, and cultural policy.
The new trustees will support ENO’s Greater Manchester Partnership, which encompasses opera production, learning, and community engagement.
Chair Louise Jeffreys welcomed the appointments, noting the new trustees’ leadership experience and connections across Greater Manchester. Press, Murray, and Julian each underscored ENO’s dual presence in Greater Manchester and London and its commitment to expanding access, collaboration, and national reach.

Their depth of expertise, leadership experience and strong connections to Greater Manchester’s cultural, civic and business communities will be invaluable as our partnership with the city region continues apace, while also strengthening ENO’s ongoing work in London and across the country,” Louise Jeffreys, Chair, English National Opera, said, per an official press release.
