
Local 802 of American Federation of Musicians Names New President
By David SalazarDan Point has been appointed President of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians.
Point previously served as Vice President of Recording and, before that, as Chief of Staff. In those roles, he worked with three former presidents and played a central role in major negotiations affecting New York City musicians, including talks with the New York Philharmonic and the Broadway League. His work also included the union’s efforts to oppose the expanded use of recorded music on Broadway.
“I am deeply honored to be appointed president of Local 802 American Federation of Musicians. This role is both a privilege and a significant responsibility, and I am committed to advocating fiercely for the rights and needs of our working musicians in New York City. My commitment to members is simple: I will stand by you and fight for you – always,” said Point per an official press release.
