Elīna Garanča, Jakub Józef Orliński & Thomas Hampson Highlight Elbphilharmonie & Laeiszhalle Hamburg’s 2020-21 Season

The Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg has announce its 2020-21 season.

As always we are highlighting the vocal performances of the season.

Mikhail Petrenko and Behzod Abduraimov perform works by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky.

Performance Date: Sept. 16, 2020

Ottavio Dantone conducts Vivaldi’s “Il Tamerlano” with the Accademia Bizantina and Gesangssolisten.

Performance Date: Sept. 29, 2020

Beethoven’s “Leonore” will be performed in concert Johannes Weisser, Joshua Ellicott, Nicole Chevalier, Christian Immler, Robin Johannsen, and Nikolaus Pfannkuch, and René Jacobs conducting the Freiburger Barockorchester.

Performance Date: Oct. 16, 2020

Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducts Schmidt’s “Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln” with Christian Elsner, Christina Landshamer, Gerhild Romberger, Maximilian Schmitt, and Stephen Milling. The Elbphilharmonie hr-Sinfonieorchester and Singverein der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien will also be part of the evening.

Solomon’s Knot presents Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen.”

Elīna Garanča and Malcolm Martineau perform a recital of works by Strauss, Spanish songs and Zarzuelas.

Dmitry Masleev and Dmitry Liss perform alongside Ural Philharmonic Orchestra and Yekaterinburg Philharmonic Choir in a program with music by Mossolow, Ustwolskaja, and Prokofiev.

Performance Date: Nov. 26, 2020

Katharina Konradi and Eric Schneider are set to present lieder by Mozart, Strauss, and Schubert.

Performance Date: Jan. 31, 2021

Danae Kontora and Constantinos Carydis perform in a concert of works by Mozart, Strauss, and Beethoven
Beethoven.

Performance Date: Feb. 20, 2021

Valery Gergiev conducts the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre in a program Stravinsky, Debussy, Ravel, and Mussorgsky.

Performance Date: March 3, 2021

Jakub Józef Orliński and Francesco Corti perform alongside Il Pomo d’Oro in a program entitled “Facce d’Amore” with works by Cavalli, Bononcini, and Händel.

Performance Date: March 4, 2021

Valery Gergiev conducts the Mariinsky Theater in Prokofiev’s “The Fiery Angel” starring Maria Bayankina, Andrei Popov, and Roman Burdenko.

Performance Date: March 5, 2021

Bejun Mehta and Jonathan Ware are set to perform Beethoven’s “An die ferne Geliebte” and lieder by Mozart, Mahler, Britten, and Haydn

Christiane Karg and Jonathan Cohen join Arcangelo in a program of music by Händel,Bach, and Buxtehude.

Performance Date: April 14, 2021

Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Ángeles Blancas Gulín, Stuart Skelton, and Vito Priante perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.  Sir Antonio Pappano conducts Orchestra and Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Roma in a program that also includes Dallapiccola’s “Il prigioniero.

Thomas Hampson and Dennis Russell Davies join the MDR-Sinfonieorchester in works by Ives, Adams, and Schnittke.

Ah Young Hong and Patricia Kopatchinskaja perform Kurtág’s Kafka-Fragmente for soprano and violin.

Sete Lágrimas performs “Das letzte Schiff.”

Schumann’s “Genoveva” is set to star Carolyn Sampson, Andrew Staples, Johannes Weisser , Vesselina Kasarova, Yorck Felix Speer, Cornelius Uhle, and Aapo Häkkinen.  Helsinki Baroque Orchestra and the Arnold Schoenberg Chor accompany.
