Elina Garanča, Ailyn Pérez & Lawrence Brownlee Headline Teatro San Carlo di Napoli’s 2020-21 Season

The Teatro San Carlo di Napoli has announced its 2020-21 season which will be the first under superintendent Stéphane Lissner.

Opera

The season opens with Puccini’s “La Bohème” in a new production by Emma Dante. Selene Zanetti stars as Mimì with Damiana Mizzi as Musetta, Stephen Costello in his house debut as Rodolfo, Ilya Kutyukhin as Marcello, Pietro Di Bianco as Schaunard, and Daniel Giulianini as Colline. Juraj Valčuha conducts.

In the summer a new casts takes the stage headlined by Eleonora Buratto, Piero Pretti, Andrzej Filończyk, Pietro DiBianco, and Daniel Giulianini.

Performance Dates: Dec. 4-17, 2020 & July 6-12, 2020

Stefano Ranzani conducts Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with René Barbera and Giulio Pelligra as the Duke, Željko Lučić and Simone Del Savio in the title role, Aida Garifullina and Claudia Pavone as Gilda, Alessio Cacciamani as Sparafucile, and Caterina Piva Giovanna s Maddalena.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16-24, 2021

Riccardo Muti leads Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” in a new production by Chiara Muti. The cast includes Luca Micheletti, Antonio Di Matteo, Mandy Fredrich, Giovanni Sala, Mariangela Sicilia, Alessandro Luongo, Fatma Said, and Igor Onishchenko.

Performance Dates: Feb. 12-20, 2021

Rossini’s “Il Turco in Italia” will be conducted by Carlo Montanaro and will star Marko Mimica, Julie Fuchs, Ruzil Gatin, Paolo Bordogna, Davide Luciano, and Alessandro Luongo.

Performance Dates: March 13-26, 2021

Vida Miknevičiūtė stars in R.Strauss’ “Salome” with Roberto Saccà, Lioba Braun, Johan Reuter, and Matthew Newlin. Juraj Valčuha conducts the revival.

Performance Dates: April 11-20, 2021

Anna Pirozzi  and Valeria Sepe star in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” alongside Giorgio Berrugi, Sergio Escobar, Annalisa Stroppa, and Andrzej Filończyk. Dan Ettinger conducts.

Performance Dates: April 30-May 13, 2021

Ailyn Pérez makes her house debut in Verdi’s “La Traviata” sharing the title role with Jessica Pratt. Karel Mark Chichon conducts the opera, which also stars Leonardo Caimi, Ivan Magrì, and George Gagnidze.

Performance Dates: June 11-27, 2021

Dan Ettinger conducts Bizet’s “Carmen” with Elina Garanča making her company debut. She stars alongside Jean-François Borras, Alexander Vinogradov, and Selene Zanetti. many times with its innovative formula and constant renewal of the show.

Performance Dates: June 20-26, 2021

Riccardo Frizza conducts Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” with Rosa Feola, Xabier Anduaga, Gabriele Viviani, and Nicola Alaimo.

Performance Dates: July 6-13, 2021

Bizet’s “Les Pêcheurs de Perles” is set to be conducted by Marco Armiliato with Lawrence Brownlee, Lucas Meachem, Nino Machaidze, and Dario Russo.

Performance Dates: Sept. 12-25, 2021

The season concludes with “My Fair Lady” with Donato Renzetti conducting a cast that includes Nancy Sullivan, Robert Hands, and John Conroy.

Performance Dates: Oct. 14-24, 2021

 

 

Dance 

Mozart’s Requiem will star Selene Zanetti, Marianna Pizzolato, Antonio Poli, and Mirco Palazzi in a production by Boris Eifmann.

Concerts

Juraj Valčuha conducts Dvořák’s Requiem with Carmen Giannattasio, Gerhild Romberger, Maximilian Schmitt, and Alexander Vinogradov.

Performance Date: Jan. 8, 2021

Monteverdi Choir English Baroque Soloists perform under Sir. John Eliot Gardiner.

Performance Date: April 6, 2021

Jessica Pratt sings a Bel Canto program of music by Bellini, Donizetti, and Rossini conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi.

Performance Date: April 16, 2021

Marco Armiliato conducts a gala in honor of Enrico Caruso with star tenors Francesco Meli, Francesco Demuro, and Javier Camarena.

Performance Date: Sept. 19, 2021

Elina Garanča sings a gala concert with Karel Mark Chichon with music by Verdi, Mascagni, Saint-Saëns, Bizet.

Performance Date: Oct. 3, 2021
