Eleonora Buratto to Receive ‘Rossini d’Oro’
By Francisco SalazarOn August 8, the Circolo Amici della Lirica Gioachino Rossini Pesaro will present Eleonora Buratto the “Rossini d’oro,” which was awarded in 2020.
In a statement, the soprano said, “I’m greatly honored to receive this coveted award in Rossini’s native city, which is celebrating another of its great moments this year as Italian Capital of Culture. It’s a great honor too to be celebrating my Rossini experience with such a special prize.
“I’m deeply grateful to Rossini, first of all as an Italian; then, as an artist, because this son of Pesaro has gifted us some of music’s greatest moments; lastly, as Eleonora: thinking back fondly to my first youthful ‘Signor Bruschino’ (Sofia at the 2008 Wexford Opera Festival), Corinna in ‘Il Viaggio a Reims’ at the Dutch National Opera in 2015, which marked the start of my international career, Anaï in ‘Moïse et Pharaon’ at the 2021 Rossini Opera Festival and Desdemona in ‘Otello’ at the 2022 ROF, because they were my baptism by fire in Rossini’s birthplace!”
Buratto will be in Pesaro to perform a concert on August 12, 2024, in which she will sing works by Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini, and Rossini. This season she sings the title roles of “Madama Butterfly,” “Tosca,” and “la Boheme.” She also performs “Il Trovatore,” “Simon Boccanegra” and “Roberto Devereux.”
