Elena Villalón, Asmik Grigorian, Nicholas Brownlee, Tamara Wilson & Francesco Demuro Lead Oper Frankfurt’s 2024-25 Season

Oper Frankfurt has announced its 2024-25 season.

New Productions

The season opens with “Der Prinz von Homburg.” Takeshi Moriuchi conducts and Jens Daniel Herzog directs the work by Henze. It stars Domen Krizaj, Yves Saelens, Magdalena Hinterdobler, Magnus Dietrich, Annette Schönmüller, and Iain MacNeil.

Performance Dates: Sept. 22 – Nov. 2, 2024

Nadja Loschky directs “Lulu” and Thomas Guggeis conducts. Vera-Lotte Boecker headlines the production alongside Simon Neal, AJ Glueckert, and Claudia Mahnke, among others.

Performance Dates: Nov. 3 – 28, 2024

Jessica Niles, Kelsey Lauritano, Iurii Iushkevich, Cláudia Ribas, Andrew Kim, and Jarrett Porter headline Julia Burbach’s production of “Partenope.” George Petrou conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 10 – 27, 2024

“Macbeth” gets two casts for its R.B. Schlather production. Nicholas Brownlee and Domen Krizaj alternate in the title role with Tamara Wilson as Lady Macbeth. As Banco, Kihwan Sim and Andreas Bauer Kanabas will both appear. Finally, Matteo Lippi takes on Macduff. Thomas Guggeis and Simone Di Felice conduct.

Performance Dates: Dec. 1, 2024 – Feb. 1, 2025

Magnard’s “Guercœur” stars Domen Krizaj, Claudia Mahnke, AJ Glueckert, Anna Gabler, Bianca Andrew, Bianca Tognocchi, and Judita Nagyová. Marique Jacquot and Lukas Rommelspacher alternate in the pit while David Hermann directs.

Performance Dates: Feb. 2  March 8, 2025

Adam’s “Le Postillon de Lonjumeau” stars Francesco Demuro, Monika Buczkowska, Ava Dodd, Joel Allison, Jarrett Porter, Morgan-Andrew King, Gabriel Wanka, and Wolfgang Gerold. Beomseok Yi and Takeshi Moriuchi conduct. Hans Walter Richter directs.

Performance Dates: March 2 – April 12, 2025

Alden Gatt and Lukas Rommelspacher conduct “Doktor und Apotheker.” The Ute M. Engelhardt production stars Thomas Faulker, Bozidar Smiljanic, Kelsey Lauritano, and Elizabeth Reiter.

Performance Dates: March 8  – 23, 2025

Reimann’s “L’Invisible” stars Erik van Heyningen, Sebastian Geyer, Gerard Schneider, Irina Simmes, Karolina Makula, and Cláudia Ribas. Titus Engel conducts and Daniela Löffner directs.

Performance Dates: March 30 – May 2, 2025

Nicholas Brownlee, Alfred Reiter, Andreas Bauer Kanabas, Ian Koziara, Iain MacNeil, and Jennifer Holloway headline Brigitte Fassbaender’s production of “Parsifal.” Thomas Guggeis conducts.

Performance Dates: May 18 – June 19, 2025

Reimann’s “Melusine” stars Anna Nekhames, Zana Svede, Cecelia Hall, Jaeil Kim, LIviu Holender, Dieetrich Ville, Frederic Jost, Andrew Kim, and Morgan-Andrew Kim.

Performance Dates: June 6 – 25, 2025

“Alcina” will be conducted by Julia Jones and directed by Johannes Erath. Monika Buczkowska, Randall Scotting, Katharina Magiera, Shleén Hughes, Clara Kim, Michael Porter, and Erik van Heyningen star.

Revivals

Händels’ “Hercules” stars Anthony Robin Schneider, Paula Murrihy, Michael Porter, Giulia Semenzato, Kelsey Lauritano, and Sakhiwe Mkosana. Laurence Cummings conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 8 – Oct. 10, 2024

Then comes “Lady Macbeth of Mstensk” with Aile Asszonyi, Dmitry Golovnin, Andreas Bauer Kanabas, Gerard Schneider, Peter Marsh, and Zanda Svede. Thomas Guggeis conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 29 – Oct. 26, 2024

“Rigoletto” will feature Franco Vassallo, Daniel Luis de Vicente, Kseniia Proshina, Bianca Tognocchi, Martin Mitterutzner, Abraham Bretón, Kihwan Sim, Thomas Faulkner, Katharina Magiera, and Zanda Svede. Giusepee Mentuccia and Simone Di Felice conduct.

Performance Dates: Oct. 4 – Nov. 8, 2024

Julia Jones conducts “Aida” with a cast starring Roberta Mantegna, Viktor Antipenko, Stefano La Colla, Silvia Beltrami, Iain MacNeil, Nicholas Brownlee, and Andreas Bauer Kanabas.

“Die Nacht von Weinhnachten” stars Georgy Vasiliev, Monika Buczkowwska, Enkelejda Shkoza, and Inho Jeong. Takeshi Moriuchi conducts.

Later in the season, Guggeis leads a performance of works by Mendelssohn and Stravinsky featuring Magdalena Hinterdobler, and Magnus Dietrich.
