Elena Dubinets Named Artistic Director of Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has announced Elena Dubinets as its new Artistic Director.

Starting May 1, Dubinets will complete the Managing Board with Managing Director Dominik Winterling and Director of Operations David Bazen. She will also work alongside Music Director Klaus Mäkelä.

Since 2021, Dubinets has served as the London Philharmonic’s Artistic Director. She has held top artistic planning positions at the Atlanta and Seattle Symphony Orchestras. Dubinets is the author of several books including “Russian Composers Abroad: How They Left, Stayed, Returned,” and has written hundreds of articles, liners, and program notes in multiple languages. She has taught at universities in the US, Russia, and Costa Rica, and holds degrees from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In 2018 she was named one of Musical America’s Professionals of the Year.

Dorothee van Vredenburch, chair of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s Governing Board reported in an official statement, “The Board is pleased to announce the successful completion of the selection process for the position of Artistic Director. Elena Dubinets is a very experienced and passionate orchestra executive with a proven track record in developing concert programmes and artistic projects on the highest level, with an eye for diversity and newly composed music. We wish her every success in her new role.”
