Ekaterina Siurina To Replace Irina Lungu in Saturday’s ‘La Traviata’ At Vienna State Opera

Ekaterina Siurina is set to take over the role of Violetta in “La Traviata” at the Vienna State Opera for Saturday’s performance. She will replace Irina Lungu for the second time in the run. Moreover, this performance will be live streamed via the Vienna State Opera’s service.

Siurina took over the opening night performance just 20 minutes before the curtain went up. The performance was delayed to accommodate her and she won a massive ovation for her heroics.

OperaWire’s review noted that “Her best singing came in the final duet and finale. ‘Parigi O Caro,’ sung with tenor Charles Castronovo, featured ardent chemistry as every phrase lined up perfectly, even as the orchestra fell behind. The voices melded beautifully, creating a tender moment as they looked and held each other.”

Siurina will perform alongside Charles Castonovo, as Alfredo, and Thomas Hampson, as Germont.
