Marquee TV has announced the appointment of its new CEO, Edward Humphrey.

Humphrey brings over two decades of experience in digital innovation and leadership in the film and TV industry, with a focus on building and growing streaming services. He led the launch and growth of renowned international film platform BFI Player and has advised on streaming strategy for a wide range of European broadcasters. Previous roles include Director of Digital Distribution at Disney, SVP Digital at Zodiak Media (now Banijay) and Head of Digital at Virgin Media TV. Humphrey is also a Trustee and Non-Executive Director of several organizations, including the Foundling Museum.

The new CEO said in a press release, “It’s a privilege to join the fantastic team at Marquee TV and support the next phase of our ambitious growth plan, building a global audience through our own new platform as well as through distributors like Amazon, Roku and Comcast. Our roster of artistic partners already includes many world-renowned institutions, and I look forward to adding more illustrious names to this list in the months ahead – helping them to engage, scale and monetise a new audience.”

Other recent changes at Marquee TV include moving its platform to a bespoke software stack, designed specifically to enhance the user experience for its global audience base. This will support Marquee TV’s partners to present their content in a wider range of arts-related content such as interviews, articles and podcasts. The company’s new media asset management and syndication platform with Stockholm Stream allows for integration with multiple third-party platforms like Amazon and Apple TV channels.

Now streaming exclusively in the UK via Marquee is the co-commissioned filming of a recent production of Richard Strauss’ opera “Arabella” at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
