Edmonton Opera Announces Rumbold Vocal Prize Winners

The competition saw mezzo-soprano Tessa Fackelmann take first prize, which included $12,000 plus a Recital Tour in the Yukon (provided by the Yukon Arts Centre).
The second prize went to soprano Elizabeth Polese, which included $8,000, while the third prize was awarded to bass-baritone Alex Halliday and tenor Angelo Moretti, which included $5,000 each.
The $1,000 University of Alberta Student Participant prize went to soprano Maria Pottle.
The competition saw judges and faculty Wendy Nielsen, Simon Rivard, Shannon Hiebert, Paul Hopper, Joel Ivany, Michael Zarathus, and Frances Armstrong. The Rumbold Vocal Prize was created to provide meaningful opportunities and assistance to emerging Canadian classical vocalists. The prizes and the Master Class opportunity are intended to help them as they work toward professional operatic careers in leading roles.
